KALEIDO

2018

The SCUTOID was introduced in July 2018 as geometry's newest shape. Scientists discovered this shape by studying surfaces of cells and noticing that to create certain tricky curves, there was no known shape to fill in the gaps. Outside of its natural habitat, there is no new application of this new shape (at least not as of December 2018). This project focuses on introducing this shape to our everyday world. Learn more about scutoids

The result is a family of useful, everyday kitchen objects--a salt/pepper mill and an oil/vinegar cruet--that celebrates the unique qualities of the scutoid.
